EYSC Community Engagement Series
Right now, record numbers of young people are dealing with unprecedented levels of stress, anxiety, anger, depression, and other mental and emotional health issues that can lead to negative — and often tragic — outcomes if not properly addressed.
The EYSC Community Engagement Series addresses these roadblocks to mental and emotional health via public events featuring engaging content, Q&A sessions with expert panelists, and partnerships with community organizations who connect attendees with crucial information, resources, and support.
As part of our current Community Engagement Series, EYSC has licensed the critically acclaimed Screenagers documentary film series for public screenings across the state:
• Updated for 2025 with new research, insights, and advice, Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age probes into the vulnerable corners of family life and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games, and academics. The film offers solutions on how we can help our kids navigate the digital world.
• Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition updates the original movie with the latest research, expert insights and advice, specifically tailored for the students, parents and educators of elementary schools to help them better navigate this digital age.
• Screenagers Next Chapter: Uncovering Skills for Stress Resilience examines the science behind teen’s emotional challenges, the interplay of social media, and most importantly, what can be done in our schools and homes to help them build crucial skills to navigate stress, anxiety, and depression in our digital age.
• Screenagers: Under the Influence addresses mental and emotional health, as well as vaping, alcohol, and drugs in the digital age, and examines how technology shapes usage of these substances by teenagers.
“These films are invaluable tools in helping parents and children have meaningful discussions about crucial mental and emotional health issues,” says Wendy Methvin, executive director of EYSC. “We are honored to have an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of families across South Carolina with this series.”
